The best laundry strips of 2026: our selection
Looking for the best laundry strips of 2026? Let's be honest: this isn't an independent test, but our own buying guide, written by a brand that makes laundry strips itself. We explain what to look for when choosing good laundry strips and which ones we recommend, including our own POWR laundry strips and a few strong alternatives.
What should you look for when choosing laundry strips?
The better buying guides look at the same points, so you can judge for yourself without blindly trusting our opinion. Look at cleaning power and enzymes, biodegradable ingredients without harmful substances such as phosphonates, parabens or optical brighteners, and suitability for sensitive skin.
Also consider fragranced or fragrance-free options, the price per wash and whether the packaging is plastic-free. Prices vary widely by brand, from around €0.10 to €0.50 per wash.
A frequently asked question is about microplastics. Many laundry strips, including ours, use PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) as a binder. The EU doesn't classify that as a microplastic, but if you'd rather use a PVA-free strip, there are now a few brands that offer one.

Our number 1: POWR laundry strips
Fair is fair: this is our own product, so we are not independent. We still put POWR laundry strips at the top because they score well on the criteria above, not because a test says so.
The POWR laundry strips are packaged without single-use plastic and are readily biodegradable. They are dermatologically tested and approved, which reduces the risk of an allergic reaction. Thanks to the enzyme technology, they also clean powerfully, and every strip is pre-dosed for exactly one wash, so no measuring or spilling.
They are suitable for white, coloured and dark textiles, for temperatures from 15° to 95°C, and even for wool, silk, cashmere and hand washing. Expect to pay around €0.25 per wash. Customers give the laundry strips an average of 4.8 out of 5 stars, across more than 3,100 reviews.

Why we chose this approach
We deliberately chose a dry, plastic-free strip instead of a bottle of detergent. Not transporting water means less weight and therefore less CO2 during shipping, and the cardboard packaging doesn't need any single-use plastic.
The dermatological test was a hard requirement for us, not a marketing claim: we wanted a product that sensitive skin also reacts well to. That, together with the enzyme formula for powerful cleaning and the convenience of one pre-dosed strip per wash, is why POWR is the logical number 1 for us.

Other good laundry strips
There are plenty of laundry strips on the market by now, and not all of them come from us. In an independent stain test on coffee, wine and oil, a few brands scored remarkably well:
- Cosmeau: Dutch brand that scored best all-round in the test, with a wide choice of fragrances.
- Wave: achieved a similarly strong score for stain removal in the same test.
- Yokuu: Belgian brand from the Ardennes with a probiotic, PVA-free formula, although the price per wash is slightly higher.
Which brand suits you best depends mainly on which criterion matters most to you: wash results, price, or a PVA-free formula.
Are laundry strips actually a good choice?
Independent sources are critical on one specific point: on stubborn stains, such as oil, laundry strips sometimes perform slightly less powerfully than traditional detergent. For everyday laundry, such as coffee or wine stains, they score perfectly well in comparative tests.

Our conclusion
Which laundry strip suits you best depends on your priorities: sustainability, skin, fragrance or price. As far as we're concerned, the POWR laundry strips are a strong, conscious choice for anyone who wants to wash plastic-free and skin-friendly, without compromising on ease of use.
