POWR supports Belgian ski jumping record: what sustainable sponsorship looks like
Three friends. An 85-metre ski jump. And the firm resolve to break the Belgian ski jumping record and, in doing so, draw attention to people who can no longer move for themselves. The daredevils of Offshore vzw succeeded in Austria last week: Sebastiaan Haven flew 62 metres and set the Belgian record.
POWR was there as a sponsor. And that meant more than a logo on a pack.
Who is Offshore vzw and what did they do?
Offshore vzw pairs extreme challenges with a social project every time. Last year, Sebastiaan Haven, Ward Verstappen and their companion became the first Belgians to kitesurf from Zeebrugge to Ramsgate, a 130-kilometre crossing of open sea. This time they chose the air.
Until recently, they had never stood on a ski jump. Yet they let an Austrian top coach guide them and trained up to an 85-metre hill. The good cause behind the campaign was To Walk Again, an organisation that helps people rehabilitate after serious accidents, and for which Wout van Aert is an ambassador.
The result: a new Belgian record and a considerable sum raised for the good cause.
Why POWR sponsors this
At POWR we believe a brand can do more than sell products. Social commitment is not a marketing trick, it's a choice. Offshore vzw embodies exactly what we want to support: people who step out of their comfort zone, not for themselves, but for others.
For us, sustainable sponsorship means the partnership also makes sense on a deeper level. To Walk Again helps people who have temporarily or permanently lost their mobility through a serious accident. Movement is fundamental, and that resonates with us. We also love challengers: organisations and people who dare to challenge the status quo.
The fun side: grass stains on spotless white suits
As a sponsor, we also took on our practical responsibility. Ski jumping in spotless white suits, landing on slopes with a little too little snow and training on grass mats: that leaves stains. And stains are exactly our territory.
Before and after the record attempt, POWR treated Offshore vzw's suits. Grass stains, residue, whatever nature had in store: it all disappeared. Sustainably, based on probiotics, and without burdening the environment.
Hard on dirt. Good for Earth.

Social commitment at the core of the POWR brand
More and more consumers consciously choose brands that stand for something. Sustainable sponsorship and social commitment are no longer extras; they're expectations. At POWR we try to live up to that expectation, not only with what's in our bottles, but also with the choices we make as a company.
The partnership with Offshore vzw and To Walk Again is a concrete example. Not a large-scale advertising campaign, but a real action, with real people, for a real difference.
